Election 2018: Eric Woodward considers run for Township mayor

Fort Langley developer makes announcement in a Facebook video posted June 6

Fort Langley developer Eric Woodward says he is considering running for mayor of the Township of Langley in the Oct. 20 election.

In a video interview with Fiona Forbes — which Woodward posted to his public Facebook page on Wednesday — Woodward said he is “definitely thinking about it.”

“I’ve been attending council meetings for almost seven years now, and from what I see we can be doing things a lot better than we are,” he said. “It’s not that there’s some kind of disaster or anything like that — we can do things better.”

Through his experience with development in Fort Langley, Woodward said he believes public consultation should be done from the beginning of developments. In particular, he said, development in Aldergrove, Brookswood and Willoughby “can be done a lot better than it is.”

Woodward also said he would most likely not run for council, but will announce his final decision for the mayor’s race by the end of the summer.
