Dan Ferguson’s image of an overjoyed José Figueroa and his wife, Ivania — taken as José stepped out of Walnut Grove Lutheran Church for the first time in two years — won first place for Spot News photo (circulation over 25,000) at the B.C. and Yukon ‘Ma Murray’ Community Newspaper Awards.

The event was held on Saturday night at River Rock Casino in Richmond.
