UPDATE: Vehicle of missing Vancouver couple found near Statlu Lake

Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue in the mountainous area looking Thursday

Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue (K-HSAR) are in the mountainous area near Statlu Lake Thursday after the vehicle of a missing Vancouver couple was found.

“They found the truck this afternoon,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said Wednesday. “Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue found the truck at Mt. Statlu Lake near Sts’ailes and the truck was unoccupied.”

Gregory James Tiffin, 44, and Sophie Dowsley, 34, both of Vancouver, were last seen July 8 by staff members of a business in the 100-Block Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs.

Statlu Lake is a remote destination between Harrison Lake and Stave Lake just north

Now that K-HSAR are focusing their ground-search in that area, they’ve asked people not to go to the area because it is so treacherous.

Gregory is described as: Caucasian male; height 182 centimetres (6’); weight 84 kilograms (185 lbs); with brown hair and green eyes.

Sophie is described as: Caucasian female; height 170 centimetres (5’7”); weight 65 kilograms (143 lbs); with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact their local police agency or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The missing couple were believed to be driving a black 2000 Chevy Silverado.
