Tourism Langley is getting in on the Pokémon Go craze.
In a blog post, the Visitor Services Team has toured every inch of Langley and Aldergrove, from Fort Langley and downtown Langley (two of the hottest Pokestops) to Willowbrook, Brookswood and Murrayville.
Tourism Langley decided to get in on the popular game because it actually promotes Langley by gettinwg people visiting different areas including trails, museums, shopping districts and parks.
“We at Tourism Langley like it because it gets people out and exploring the great communities of Langley,” said the Tourism Langley website.
In the game, users follow a virtual map on their phone that tracks their location live, via their phone’s GPS. As the player walks, they encounter virtual creatures which they can capture, collect, and battle. For instance all along the Fort to Fort trail are Pokestops. There are also characters and lures at the Walnut Grove spray park.
A good battle spot is in the parking lot of the Cineplex movie theatre in Walnut Grove, where three gyms are located. Downtown Langley is “hopping with Pokestops and gyms” the blog said.
But a word to the wireless — watch where you walk, look up once in a while and enjoy where the game takes you. You might discover a place you’ve never been before.Visit www.tourism-langley.ca/pokemon-go-langley-b-c/ for full Pokémon Go stops.
