TOMS: Janet Edwards (nee Robertson) passed away on February 17, 2006 after a long battle with various illnesses. Janet was born in Greenock, Scotland on Nov. 18, 1926 and came to Canada with her family when she was 3 months old, finally settling in Murrayville where she attended Murrayville School. She married Roy Toms on July 27, 1946 and the couple settled on Toms Road (75th avenue, just north of Hwy 1 off 232 street.) The couple raised a family and developed and operated Livingstone Campsite and Trailer Park where you could often see her with a shovel or a lawn mower, and when no longer able, to see her with her hand in a jigsaw puzzle.
Janet was pre-deceased by Roy in October, 2004 and brother Robert in 1991 and is lovingly remembered by her daughters and their husbands, Judy and Denny Slaght, Betty and Leo Van Wensem; and her grandchildren, Jan (Jim), Todd, Ken (Kathy), Angela (Scott), Mike (Julie), Brian (Kim); sister Isobel, brothers Stuart (Barb) and Bruce (Carol), and other extended family and friends.
Janet was passionate about the things she loved: her family, artwork and visiting with friends and neighbours – she always had a cup of coffee and a cookie ready for anyone who dropped in. Janet is fondly remembered and sadly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B.C. & Yukon Division of the Arthritis Society.
A memorial service will be held on Sat., Feb 25th at 1:30pm at her home, 23157 – 72 Ave., Langley.
