Valley Ball Hockey Association team comes third at B.C. championships

After finishing fourth in league play during the regular season, the Valley Ball Hockey Association’s Mighty Mites went on an impressive post-season run which culminated with the bronze medal.

The major division ball hockey team was competing last week at the provincial championships, which were held at North Delta’s Sungod Arena.

The Mighty Mites, who went 1-1-1 in pool play, edged Ridge Meadows 2-1 in the bronze medal game. They had lost 5-3 to Richmond in the semifinals.

The Mighty Mites won six of their nine playoffs games (6-2-1) — which includes provincial —  after going 7-5-4 during the VBHA regular season.

Two other VBHA teams placed fourth in their respective divisions at the provincial championships.

The peanut division Silver Bullets fell 5-0 in the third-place game to Tri-City while the junior Mimics lost 4-2 to Richmond in their bronze medal game.
