Five Langley players move on in U16 BC Cup Camp

Included in five are pair of players taken in WHL draft

Of the eight Langley teens who hit the ice in Salmon Arm last month representing the top U16 hockey players in the province at the BC Cup Camp, five have moved on to the next round.

Representing Langley in Salmon Arm were forwards Ty Gagno (Yale Hockey Academy), Davis Kish (Langley Minor Hockey), Liam Bressette (Langley Minor Hockey), Chase Sandhu (Burnaby Winter Club) and Ethan Urquhart (Delta Hockey Academy) and defencemen Elias Carmichael (Burnaby Winter Club) and Alex Serraglio (Delta Hockey Academy).

The eight were on the list of 144 players announced by BC Hockey for their 2018 Male U16 BC Cup.

Another Langley player, Keegan Maddocks, whose name was initially left off the list when his hometown was misidentified as Langford, was also included in the Salmon Arm BC U16 (Round 2) group of 144 players.

Maddocks was subsequently selected, along with four other Langley boys — Gagno, Serraglio, Sandhu, and Carmichael — to the next cut of 60 players who will participate in Round 3 of the selection process at the end of July in Shawnigan Lake.

Both Maddocks and Carmichael were also selected in the WHL draft held earlier this month.

Carmichael was selected in the second round by the Kelowna Rockets, while Maddocks was selected in round 8 by the Victoria Royals.
