Following their 3-1 upset of the former league leading Hawks at Ladner Tuesday night, the Kodiaks upped the ante with a 7-3 win at Aldergrove Arena on Wednesday night.

Kodiaks’ Kodi Schwarz, Adam Callegari and Kenny Prato scored in the first period to put the team up 3-0 at the start of the second period.

Schwarz and Brandon Dolby notched two more in the second to put the Kodiaks up 5-0 at the start of the third.

The Hawks finally netted one at the beginning of the third but Kodiaks’ Elvis Jansons fired their sixth goal two minutes later. The Hawks netted two more in the next four minutes, including a short-handed goal, before Callegari closed the night’s scoring at 13:33.

Two of the Kodiaks goals were on the power play and they out-shot the Hawks 48-36.

It was a very productive night for game first star Callegari, who picked up four assists in addition to his two goals. He is now third in the league for scoring with 30 points after 16 games with the Kodiaks.

The game’s second star, Stephen Ryan had three assists that night, putting him on top of the league with 36 points after 19 games.

Third star Prato had two assists and a goal, and he is second in the league with 31 points after 19 games.

Jeremy Lagler had two assists that night, while singles went to Colen Whitworth, Aaron Markin, Jonathan Philley and Spencer Unger.

The win puts the Kodiaks atop the Harold Brittain conference with 28 points after 19 games (13-4-0-2), one point ahead of the Abbotsford Pilots. The Hawks remain atop the Tom Shaw conference with 28 points after 20 games (13-5-1-1), three points ahead the Richmond Sockeyes.

The Kodiaks get a week off before they host Port Moody Panthers on Wednesday, Nov. 20; puck drop at 7:15 p.m. They then travel to MSA Arena to play the Abbotsford Pilots on Friday, Nov. 22.
