Martel, Pearson notch hat tricks as Langley closes schedule with home victory

Ryan Martel scored twice in the 10-minute overtime period as the Langley Thunder won their home finale.

Martel and Johnny Pearson each finished with hat tricks as the Thunder defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs 10-9 in overtime on Wednesday night in Western Lacrosse Association senior A action at the Langley Events Centre.

The loss improved the Thunder to 4-13-0 while Coquitlam fell to 5-13-0. Both have already been eliminated from post-season contention.

Langley twice battled back from two-goal deficits and only once held the lead when they went ahead 4-3 early in the second period.

James Rahe and Cole Shafer each had a goal and two helpers while Zack Wickett made 47 saves for the victory.

The Thunder finish the season on Aug. 1 when they visit the Burnaby Lakers.
