Silver, bronze medals for Langley athletes

Langley athletes were representing Team BC at Canadian gymnastics championships

Cathy Zhong won a silver medal on the beam while also helping her team win bronze at the Canadian gymnastics championships.

Zhong was one of seven Langley athletes competing at the meet, which was held May 23 to 28 in Montreal.

Zhong, who is from the Langley Gymnastics Foundation, was second on the beam in the Junior Olympic (JO) level 10, ages 12 to 15.

Zhong and fellow LGF athletes Paula Urquidi (JO 10, 16+) also helped their respective teams take bronze in the team competition.

And three other members of the LGF — Tyler Welch, Victor Blaine and Brandon MacDonald — helped B.C. win bronze in the men’s national open division.
