Silver lining for Beastie Boys

North Langley U16C girls finish second at Richmond tournament

There was a silver lining for the North Langley Beastie Boys.

The U16C girls softball team brought home the silver medal over the weekend at an eight-team tournament hosted by the Richmond Islanders.

North Langley pulled off an upset in the semifinals, knocking off the previously-unbeaten Burnaby Oakies 7-6 to advance to the gold medal game on Sunday.

But the Beastie Boys came up on the wrong end of a 9-1 score to the Kamloops Nova in the final. It was the second time Kamloops beat North Langley over the weekend as they also won 12-0 in the final round-robin game.

Those were North Langley’s only two losses. They had tied the Richmond Warriors 7-7, doubled the Vancouver Bandits 6-3 and grounded the North Shore Blue Jays 11-6.
