Dennis Cholowski to make his NHL debut on Thursday with the Detroit Red Wings.


Langley’s Dennis Cholowski scored his first NHL goal during his debut game with the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 4.

Cholowski scored the goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second period of the game.

The Blue Jackets won 3-2 in overtime.

Langley’s Dennis Cholowski will make his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, Oct. 4.

The Red Wings made cuts to their roster over the weekend, but Cholowski is one of the young players who will stay and play with the Wings during the 2018-19 season.

The season begins on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as the Wings take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Cholowski is a 20-year-old defenceman who stands six-foot-one and weighs 195 pounds.

On April 5, 2017, the Detroit Red Wings announced on Twitter that they agreed to terms with Cholowski on a three-year entry-level contract .

The Wings selected Cholowski in the first round (20th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to being drafted, Cholowski played one season with Minnesota’s St. Cloud State, and two seasons with the BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs.

In addition to signing his entry-level contract with Detroit in 2017, Cholowski agreed to an amateur tryout with the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapid Griffins — the minor league affiliate for the Red Wings.
